The Artist
My Mathematical Mind is created by David Walck. David grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. In July of 2009, he received his bachelor's degree in the field of applied mathematics from Utah State University. Since then, he has taught math and physics in Fountain Valley, CA. In 2011, he realized that he could utilize his background in mathematics and science to create artwork and embarked on his journey into the art world.
Using the mathematics of fractal geometry, he is able to create intricate designs from simple forms. His approach to color theory is rooted in an understanding of the physics of light and the color spectrum. Taking advantage of this knowledge, he produces images specifically designed to exploit various lighting conditions. By simply changing the color of light interacting with the surface, his fractals take on many different forms and depths.
The goal of his work is to show people that mathematics is not just the cold, lifeless calculation that most of us remember from school. Instead, it is the language with which the universe was written and those who learn to wield it become veritable sorcerers capable of conjuring breathtaking beauty in the world around them.
In short: The universe is math. Math is beautiful. And he's here to show you.
